IBFed comments on the Basel Committee’s Review of the Net Stable Funding Ratio

The IBFed appreciates the potential of the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) to contribute to enhancing the resilience of the banking sector, by limiting the risks associated with excessive maturity mismatches on banks’ balance sheets. However, it is the IBFed’s firm belief that the NSFR should not overly restrict the maturity transformation role that banks play, which allows for the efficient allocation of capital resources, and supports the engine for economic growth, social needs, and prosperity.
